The Exciting Role  
A new and exciting opportunity has become available for a Safeguarding Support Assistant   
 
The Safeguarding and Wellbeing team plays a central role in ensuring that all students at East Lancashire Learning Group are safe, supported and able to engage positively with their education.  
 
The team works closely with curriculum areas, senior leaders, support services and external agencies to promote student wellbeing, respond to safeguarding concerns and meet the college’s statutory safeguarding responsibilities.  
 
The Safeguarding Support Assistant role is integral to the day-to-day operation of the department, providing first-line administrative and operational support to the Safeguarding Officers, Team Leader and Manager.  
 
We are seeking a highly organised, reliable and professional individual who can manage a varied administrative workload, maintain confidentiality, communicate effectively with a wide range of people and contribute positively to the safeguarding culture and pastoral support provision of the College. 
 
The successful candidate will be primarily based at Accrington and Rossendale campus but may be required to travel across sites.

What You Will Be Doing:
• Act as the first point of contact for safeguarding and wellbeing enquiries, including telephone, email and in person queries. 
• Provide initial triage of safeguarding concerns, escalating appropriately to relevant officers and offer signposting advice to internal and external a agencies where suitable. 
• Act as the main point of contact for learners declaring criminal convictions and communicate with external agencies as required to ensure risk assessments are in place where appropriate. Support decision-making and enrolment processes for prospective learners with disclosures. 
• Support the monitoring and oversight of referrals through college systems, including filter and monitoring software, ensuring concerns involving staff and students are identified and flagged appropriately. Assist with the use of ProMonitor and CPOMS, including reporting, user access management, and staff training, while demonstrating a willingness to develop further knowledge and skills in college systems. 
• Provide comprehensive and efficient administrative support for all safeguarding processes across the organisation. Responsibilities include preparing and coordinating reports, collating academic information for PEP/CLA meetings, undertaking accurate minute taking, and organising and compiling documentation required for safeguarding purposes.  
• Plan, schedule, and coordinate internal and external meetings relating to safeguarding, Prevent, wellbeing, and multi agency processes. Ensure all meeting documentation is prepared in advance, distributed appropriately to relevant stakeholders, and stored securely in accordance with data protection and safeguarding requirements. 
• Maintain accurate, confidential safeguarding records at all times. 
• Manage the transfer and receipt of safeguarding files from schools and external agencies. 
• Liaise with external stakeholders to gather, verify and share relevant information as required. 
• Work collaboratively with internal support services and teaching staff to ensure statutory responsibilities are fulfilled  

What We Are Looking For:
• The Safeguarding & Wellbeing team is seeking an individual with GCSEs at Grade A*–C (9–4), or equivalent, in Mathematics and English Language.  
• The successful candidate will have the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with external agencies, parents, and students, and will demonstrate enthusiasm, commitment and a strong dedication to the role.
