Our Organisation 
This role is advertised by East Lancashire Learning Group Professional Services. Part of East Lancashire Learning Group, ELLG Professional Services provides expert business support services to the wider College Group.  

East Lancashire Learning Group is a beacon for educational excellence, made up of a family of colleges – Nelson & Colne College, Accrington & Rossendale College and Lancashire Adult Learning. The College Group is the only Further Education college in Lancashire to be graded as ‘Outstanding’ under the new Ofsted inspection framework.

Together the Group forms a Sixth Form, Skills and Technology Centre, University Centre, employer training and adult learning provider delivering exceptional teaching and learning to all ages and at all levels.

The Exciting Role 
A rewarding opportunity has become available for Casual Learning Support Assistants to join our Additional Learning Support Team.

This is a varied and fulfilling role supporting learners with a wide range of additional needs, disabilities and barriers to learning. You will work alongside teaching staff to help learners participate fully in college life, access their learning and develop the confidence and independence needed to achieve their goals.

Support may take place in a variety of settings including classrooms, workshops, practical learning environments, outdoor activities, community-based learning, work placements, volunteering opportunities and dedicated Additional Learning Support spaces during lunch periods.

We are looking for caring, empathetic and positive individuals who are passionate about supporting young people to succeed. Previous SEND experience is welcome but not essential. We are equally interested in applicants with strong communication skills, a willingness to learn and a genuine commitment to inclusion.

What You Will Be Doing:
• Providing in-class support to learners with a range of additional needs and disabilities. 
• Supporting learners to overcome barriers to learning, participation and achievement. 
• Implementing agreed support strategies and reasonable adjustments. 
• Promoting learner confidence, independence, resilience and self-advocacy. 
• Supporting learners in classrooms, workshops, practical activities, work placements and community-based learning. 
• Encouraging active participation, attendance and engagement. 
• Providing personal care and physical support where required, maintaining dignity, privacy and independence at all times. 
• Contributing to Assess, Do, Plan, Review (ADPR) processes and EHCP annual reviews by providing observations and progress information. 
• Acting as an invigilator for examinations and assessments following appropriate training. 
• Working collaboratively with curriculum and Inclusion teams to create inclusive learning environments. 
• Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

What We Are Looking For:
We would particularly like to hear from applicants who:
• Have GCSE English Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent).
• Demonstrate empathy, patience and a genuine desire to help young people succeed.
• Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Can build positive and professional relationships with learners and colleagues.
• Are committed to inclusion, equality, diversity and belonging.
• Can work calmly, flexibly and professionally in a range of situations.
• Are willing to undertake relevant training and continuous professional development.
• Understand the importance of promoting independence while providing appropriate support.

Previous experience working with young people, learners with SEND, care settings, youth work, support services or community organisations would be advantageous but is not essential.

Full training and ongoing professional development will be provided.
